How the Sphinx Got to the Museum

But the DINOSAUR book is the second in the series of "museum" books. The first, published in 2010, is "How the Sphinx Got to the Museum"

It's about the story behind the sphinx of Hatshepsut, found at New York City's Metropolitan Museum. And it's about the many people who worked behind the scenes to find, move and restore the sphinx.

How the Dinosaur Got to the Museum

But first ... a little catching up in the blog world. In September, 2011, my childrens' book, "How the Dinosaur Got to the Museum" was published by Blue Apple Books. It's all about the provenance of a certain Diplodicus longus at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. To research this book, I traveled to an actual dig site in Shell, Wyoming. We searched for bones! If you find a fragment and are puzzled whether it is a bone or just a stone: place it on your tongue. Bone fragments are VERY porous and they will stick to your tongue.

I found one!
